Conor McGregor has already jumped from -1100 to -2250 at the SuperBook.
Sunday's UFC Fight Night 59 at Boston's TD Garden will
showcase one of the top featherweights in the world and more than likely set
him up for a title fight in his next bout. Irish fighter Conor McGregor (16-2) is
only ranked No. 5 in the UFC rankings
at featherweight and will face No. 10 Dennis Siver (22-9, 1 No-Contest) in the
main event. But all McGregor has to do is win, and he will reportedly earn a
shot at UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo later this year in Ireland.
The betting line certainly suggests McGregor should have no
problem beating Siver, as he opened as an extra large -1100 favorite (bet
$1,100 to win $100) at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook (click here
to check latest UFC odds). The line had already more than doubled in McGregor's
favor to -2250 as of Friday, making him one of the biggest favorites in MMA
history. Anybody willing to risk money on the massive underdog could get +1050
on Siver (bet $100 to win $1,050) at the SuperBook.
While that bout may not be worth wagering on at that extreme
price, there are a few other fights on the UFC card which should appeal to
bettors. One of them is the co-main event between lightweights Benson Henderson
and Donald Cerrone, who is replacing Eddie Alvarez due to illness.
Cerrone (26-6, 1 NC) has won six in a row following a
unanimous decision victory against previously unbeaten prospect Myles Jury just
two weeks ago. Henderson (21-4) is the former lightweight champ and will be
trying to get back on track after getting knocked out by No. 1 contender Rafael
dos Anjos last Aug. 23. Cerrone and Henderson fought each other for the WEC
championship back in 2009, with Henderson taking the interim lightweight title
via a five-round UD. They battled again six months later, and Henderson won
again, only the second time came by guillotine choke submission in the first
round.
Henderson opened as a -135 favorite at the SuperBook against
Cerrone, the +115 underdog. The line has since risen slightly to -140 there in
favor of Henderson while other sportsbooks have him a bit lower.
The four-bout main card for UFC Fight Night 59 gets underway
at 7 p.m. Pacific time and will be televised live on FOX Sports 1. Six more
preliminary card fights start at 4 p.m. and will also be shown on FS1 following
two others that kick off the event on UFC
Fight Pass.
