Angels Ranked No. 1 in DBA MLB Power Ratings for 5th Straight Week.
With
less than one week left in baseball's regular season, three divisions have already
been won and two more teams have clinched playoff spots. The American League West champion Los Angeles
Angels (-207) are ranked No. 1 in the Don Best Advantage
MLB Power Ratings for the fifth straight week and battling the No. 2
Baltimore Orioles (-178), who won the AL East, for the best record and home-field
advantage down the road if they eventually meet in the postseason.
The
other division winner is the No. 3 Washington Nationals (-171), who won the
National League East and look to be the top seed in the NL if they can hold off
the No. 5 Los Angeles Dodgers (-160) and No. 7 St. Louis Cardinals (-141). The
Dodgers and Cardinals have both clinched at least Wild Card berths in the
playoffs, with LA playing a key series against the No. 8 San Francisco Giants (-138)
in a series that could likely determine the NL West champ.
The
Dodgers, Angels and Nationals remain 9/2 co-favorites to win the World Series
at the Westgate
Las Vegas SuperBook, with the Tigers right behind them at 6/1 followed by
the Orioles and Cardinals at 7/1 (click here

9/5 co-favorites to win the NL pennant while the Angels are 2/1 to win the AL.
The
Oakland Athletics fell from a tie at No. 2 with Baltimore to No. 4 this week,
and they are 10/1 to win the World Series. The A's play the Angels this week
and likely need to finish strong to secure one of the AL Wild Card spots, with
the No. 8 Kansas City Royals (-138) another good bet to get into the playoffs.
Don Best COO and oddsmaker Kenny White remains partial to the Tigers not only
winning the AL pennant but also capturing the World Series because the other
teams in the league have more weaknesses. White picked
Detroit to beat the Dodgers in seven games last week.
"I still feel strong about Detroit, as the Tigers have the best balance of offense
and pitching," White said. "Oakland has really struggled to score runs because
of an average offense, but the A's starting rotation of Lester, Gray,
Samardzija and Kazmir can stack up against any of the teams in the AL.
"Baltimore is winning with smoke and mirrors. Their offense has carried them most of the season. However, without (Manny) Machado, (Chris) Davis and (Matt) Wieters, the Orioles offense is just average. Their pitching has really come around, but I feel they are merely above average and nothing special. I will be against the O's in their first playoff series."
In the NL, White said he likes the Dodgers because they are the deepest team in the league.
"St. Louis has the pedigree and the pitching is starting to get healthy, but offensively they have really struggled," White said. "Washington has the second-best team in the NL, and with their pitching staff I expect them to take the Dodgers to seven games."
