New York Knicks: New York (9-3 straight-up and against the spread) maintained a one-game lead over the Nets in the Atlantic Division with a 121-100 home win over Detroit on Sunday. That ended a two-game losing streak with both setbacks coming on the road at Dallas (114-111) and Houston (131-103). Coach Mike Woodson’s team is not nearly as strong playing away (4-3 SU and ATS) as at home (5-0 SU and ATS). The "over" is 5-0-1 in the Knicks road games. New York has been very successful against the Eastern Conference this year, going 6-0 SU and ATS. Big man Amare Stoudemire (knee) still hasn’t played this season, which makes Carmelo Anthony an undersized power forward. The smaller lineup doesn’t have much trouble scoring at 103.4 points per game (ranked third), with Anthony among the NBA leaders at 25.6 ppg.

Brooklyn Nets: This is the first meeting between the teams this year, a makeup from the Nov. 1 season opener that was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. The Nets (8-4 SU, 7-3-2 ATS) love playing in the new Barclays Center at 6-1 SU and 4-1-2 ATS. That includes a 98-85 win over Portland yesterday as 7 ½-point favorites, so both the Nets and Knicks are playing on consecutive days. Brooklyn gets the bulk of its scoring from three guys, Brook Lopez (19 ppg), Deron Williams (16.8) and Joe Johnson (15.8). Gerald Wallace is another prime scoring threat, but he’s averaging just 6.2 points in five games and playing through an ankle injury. The Nets lost and failed to cover the last three home games against the Knicks. They are hoping the move from New Jersey starts turning that around.
