Dallas Mavericks: Dallas (7-7 straight-up, 5-9 against the spread) starts a mini, two-game road trip with this contest followed by a visit to Chicago on Wednesday. The Mavericks have alternated between wins and losses in their last seven games with the latest a 115-89 blowout home loss to the Lakers on Saturday. Guard O.J. Mayo (21.5 points per game) is playing very well in his first year in Big D, and the team’s scoring average of 100.9 points ranks tied-for-fifth despite the absence of Dirk Nowitzki (knee, out indefinitely). However, the Mavericks have had much more trouble offensively on the road (95 ppg, ranked 20th), with their record just 2-4 SU and ATS. The "under" is 4-0 in their last four road tilts despite one of them going into overtime.
Philadelphia 76ers: The 76ers (8-6 SU, 7-7 ATS) are coming off a 104-101 home win over Phoenix on Sunday. That was a failure to cover as 4-point favorites and they’re now just 5-4 SU and 4-5 ATS at home this season. The "over" is 4-1 in the last five games at Wells Fargo Center. Coach Doug Collins’ team has been dealing with its own big injury with new center Andrew Bynum (knee) yet to play this season. Bynum’s absence makes Philly a small team, and both the 76ers and Mavericks rank among the NBA’s worst in rebounding margin. The 76ers are still a stingy defensive squad without their seven-footer (93.4 ppg, tied-for-sixth), but offense continues to be a problem (92.2 ppg, ranked 26th). Point guard Jrue Holiday leads the team at 18.6 ppg. These interconference foes last met in February. The road team has fared well in the last six matchups at 4-1-1 ATS, while the "under" is 4-0 in the last four overall.
