Oregon Ducks: The Ducks (8-0 straight-up, 4-4 against the spread) are coming off a 70-14 drubbing of Colorado as 47-point favorites. They’ve now covered 3-straight after starting the season at 1-4 ATS. Oregon remains at No. 4 in the BCS even after No. 2 Florida lost, getting leapfrogged by Notre Dame. Coach Chip Kelly brings the nation’s top scoring offense (53.4 PPG) to SoCal and third-ranked running game (330.6 YPG) led by Kenyon Barner. Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota is a dual threat runner and thrower, who keeps defenses on its toes and he also has a solid 159.2 rating (ranked 17th).
USC Trojans: The BCS No. 17 Trojans (6-2 SU, 2-6 ATS) suffered a disappointing 39-36 loss at unranked Arizona last week as 5 ½-point favorites. That was despite a conference-record 345 receiving yards from Marqise Lee. Senior quarterback Matt Barkley is capable of throwing on any defense and leads the nation’s 23rd ranked passing attack (291.3 YPG). However, Oregon has been pretty good at pass defense at third in the Pac-12 (213.5 YPG). Coach Lane Kiffin’s USC defense is allowing just 8.3 PPG in the three home games this year (the "under" 3-0), although this will be the biggest challenge by far. The away team has won and covered the last two meetings between Oregon and USC. The "over" is 3-0 in the last three with an average total points scored of 75.
